Manual Lymph Drainage (MLD)

A specialized “skin touch” therapy focused on improved function of the lymphatic system. Manual stimulation of the lymphatic vessels encourages the natural flow of lymphatic fluid that has been interrupted due to damage, structural compromise or excess accumulation causing edema in various areas of the body.

Who benefits from this modality?

Ideal candidates for these specialized treatments are post-operative patients of joint replacement or repair, abdominal surgery, elective surgeries including rhinoplasty, breast augmentation and lipo-suction, cancer survivors post lumpectomy, mastectomy and sentinel node removal, those recovering from bacterial or viral infections or with edema caused by infection, allergens, environmental or chemical pollution and trauma.

"Very soon after I had bilateral knee replacement in August 2017 my wife suggested I start to see Barbara for lymphatic drainage treatments. As a physician I am probably a natural initial skeptic, but as my rehabilitation progressed there was no question that the regular treatments by Barbara dramatically reduced the swelling in my knees and significantly aided my recovery.The benefits were indisputable; for anyone who has had knee replacements they realize that there is a tremendous sense of tightness in the joint almost like an overinflated balloon when the inflammation is prominent. "I went to see Barbara while I had a severe sinus infection and was on a second round of antibiotics. The antibiotics were not working and I was referred to Barbara by a friend who was getting lymphatic drainage treatments and they were helping her.
